Lyrids 2025 Dance Instructors
Željko Jergan, a former leading performer with the Croatian National Folk Ensemble LADO, has become a prominent figure in the folklore and dance community. With over 450 original choreographies to his credit, Željko has revitalized traditional Croatian dances and developed new works for nearly 100 performing ensembles worldwide. His expertise and attention to detail have made him a sought-after instructor across the U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan, and Taiwan.
Željko has significantly contributed to the Croatian folklore community in Canada, serving as Artistic Director for several ensembles and producing choreographies for major festivals. In the U.S., he has worked with collegiate and amateur folk groups, including the Duquesne University Tamburitzans and other Pittsburgh-based ensembles. Recognized for his dedication, Željko continues to elevate the authenticity and presentation of Croatian culture through his work.
Joe Graziosi, born and raised in the greater Boston area, is of Greek and Italian heritage. With a B.A. in History from Brandeis University, Joe’s passion for traditional Greek dance began in 1975 during a semester in Athens, where he studied under folklorist Ted Petrides. Over the years, Joe has conducted extensive research on Greek dance and music in Greece, Anatolia, and Greek American communities, amassing a significant library of resources.
In 1982, Joe directed the Greek Music Tour, sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, and co-founded the Greek American Folklore Society (GAFS) in New York. He has taught Greek dance across the U.S., Canada, and internationally, including Japan, Germany, and Mexico. Joe has served as an advisor and judge for various Greek dance festivals and co-founded the World Music & Dance Camp. He continues to share his expertise through workshops and lectures.
