For over a decade, the Lyrids Folk Dance Festival has brought the joy of international dance to British Columbia each spring.
From its beginnings in 2014 to its finale in 2026, Lyrids has grown into a vibrant gathering of dancers, teachers, and friends from across North America. This retrospective, compiled by Bev Neilson with voices from the Burnaby Folk Dance community, traces the festival’s evolution — its roots in Salt Spring Island, its resilience through the pandemic, and the unforgettable moments shaped by world-class instructors, live music, and shared joy. As we prepare for our twelfth and final Lyrids, we invite you to reflect on the legacy we’ve built together.
